Trediberri Barolo Rocche dellAnnunziata 2013 - Wine

Tasting Notes

Thanks to the increase in vines at our disposal, in 2014 we were able to age the wine in a 20 Hl barrel. The result is a typical Barolo from Rocche dell’Annunziata, characterized by purity and a silky elegance, not lavish at all, rather noble and subtle. Cherry, rose and strawberry are the footprint

Production Notes

First fermentation: pied de cuve, about 7 days of fermentation and maceration in concrete. Malolactic fermentation: spontaneous in concrete and steel. Aging: about 6 months in concrete and stainless steel.

Critics Reviews

Vinous 91pts (2014) - Macerated cherry, hard candy, mint, spice, new leather and licorice give the 2014 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata a darker profile than the straight Barolo. In 2014, the Rocche was aged in a new 25HL Garbellotto cask, which along with the naturally slender personality of the year, leaves the Rocche with a slightly more constricted feel in both its aromatics and tannin profile compared with the straight Barolo. Time in the glass does wonders for the 2014. I can't wait to see how it ages.

Producer Profile

A relatively new winery, the Trediberri cantina of La Morra was established in 2012. It all began when three Piedmontese - Nicola Oberto, his father Federico and their associate Vladimiro Rambaldi - bought five hectares of vineyards in Berri, a hamlet of La Morra. Nicola's father, Federico, had spent forty years working for a local, large Barolo producer. He now helps Nicola in the winery alongside his wife, Anna Rosa Oberto, who tends to the vines fastidiously. In addition to the five hectares, the Oberto family have two hectares in one of the Langhes top vineyards - Rocche dellAnnunziata - located in the very heart of the region. Guided by Anna Rosa, they follow a low impact, organic approach to viticulture, while the wines are made traditionally with extended macerations and aged in large oak botti. Trediberri also farm grapes from two hectares of rented vines nearby Cappalotti vineyard. They have been certified organic since 2015.
