Trapiche Terroir Series Finca Orellana 2015 - Wine

Tasting Notes

Aromas of red fruits such as cherries and plums and hints of mint, fresh herbs & balsamic. It is full bodied on the palate with great fruit concentration, ripe, soft tannins and a long, lingering finish.

Production Notes

The vines are grown on alluvial, sandy soils with a plant density of 5000 per hectare & the vines follow a North-South orientation. The fruit for this wine is harvested by hand following a process of careful bunch selection. After destemming, the juice undergoes fermentation with wild yeasts in small concrete vats for 25 days at 26-28deg. Natural malolactic fermentation takes place followed by ageing for 18 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is further aged in bottle for 12 months before release.

Producer Profile

Founded in 1883, Trapiche is one of Argentina's best-known wine brands. Located at the foothills of the Andes in Mendoza, they own more than 3000 acres of vineyards ranging from 600 meters to over 1200 meters. Chief winemaker, Daniel Pi's goal and vission is to represent the richness and diversity of Argentina's terroir. Trapiche is dedicated to creating the best Malbec wines in the world as exemplified by the winery's most successful project, The Single Vineyard Malbec Series.
