Teusner Joshua Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2018 - Wine

Tasting Notes

A juicy, spicy and flavoursome red overflowing with red and black ripe, berried fruits, cured meat and lifted sweet spice. Savoury on the palate with gentle tannins which hold it all together seamlessly

Production Notes

Oak was not used in the vinification of this blend to showcase the freshness and vibrancy. Fermentation took place between 20 to 30°C in small, open fermenters and lasting for seven days with twice daily pumpovers. Blended straight after the vintage in the tank, followed by naturally occurring malolactic fermentation. As soon as it was clarified, it was bottled in order to preserve its freshness. Both Grenache and Mataro have the ability to taste beautiful in youth and as they age, they become more interesting, developing savoury and earthy profiles.

Critics Reviews

James Suckling 92pts (2018) - This is a wine that cuts to the heart and soul of the Barossa with three varieties, together making one heck of a wine. Raspberries, blueberries, plums, blackberries and more, all presented in a fresh, supple and deeply flavorsome style.

Producer Profile

Established by Kym Teusner and Michael Page in 2001, Teusner’s philosophy is to produce only exceptional, affordable wines by being very selective about the fruit, which is sourced from old, well maintained vineyards in Barossa. These vineyards reliably produce balanced, complex fruit which are guided, with minimal input, into stunning wines. Kym decided to make the Righteous Shiraz because he wanted to showcase his own expression of what he considers the ultimate Barossa Valley Shiraz style...intense, powerful and long-lived.
