Tasting Notes

Bright greenish yellow in colour. The nose is mature, with gentle notes of nuts and citrus and hazelnut. The palate is full bodied and very fresh with great acidity and a medium to long finish.

Production Notes

The Legado Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from vines planted between 1999 and 2002 on granite soils in one of the coolest places in the Valle de Casablanca 18 kilometers from the sea in a particularly cold vintage. Even the entry level wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts, and this one was kept in foudres for six months before it was bottled.

Producer Profile

The De Martino family arrived in Chile from Italy in 1934 and settled in Isla de Maipo. Today the winery is managed by brothers Sebastian and Marco De Martino who share an ongoing focus in creating wines which represent the family and their origin in the purest way possible. Day to day operations are run by the impressive and well-travelled Sebastian and Marco De Martino, with winemaking under the watchful eye of one of Chile's finest winemakers, Marcelo Retamal. Between them, Sebastian, Marco and Marcelo have transformed De Martino over the past decade into arguably Chile's most progressive and dynamic producer. De Martino is at the top of its game in Chile, with a range of wines that spans from Limari in the north to Itata in the south. They work sustainably across all their vineyards and use organic practices for their Itata and single vineyard wines. These wines are each fermented with native yeasts, avoiding any additives that may alter their personality. Likewise, aging is made in stainless steel, concrete, 5000 litres foudres, used barriques (average age ten years old), to allow the wines to reflect their origin.
