Gerard Bertrand Chateau La Sauvageonne Grand Vin 2015 - Wine

Tasting Notes

The nose is packed with complex aromas of garrigue, dark berried fruit and a touch of gingerbread spice. On the palate the cuvee boasts elegant and refined tannins which frame the palate with great balance and vivacity

Production Notes

The harvest began with an analysis of the grape's polyphenol content and daily tasting as they reached peak maturity. The grapes were carefully picked by hand and carried to the winery in special grape bins, within an hour of leaving the vine. The grapes were meticulously sorted and destemmed before being transferred to thermo-regulated vats. Each grape variety was processed separately. Maceration lasted for approximately 20 to 25 days. At the end of the winter the wines were transferred to new 225 litre oak barrels and left to mature for 12 to 16 months.

Critics Reviews 16.5+pts (2015) - Plush, ripe and sleek. Plenty of toasty oak on the nose, but enough ripe fruit character underneath to balance. Smooth, creamy texture and good oak-dominated persistence. (RH)
